✌️THIS BLOG IS DEAD BUT I'M ALIVE (KINDA)✌️

I've been meaning to blog more since 5eva but I literally have nothing else to talk about now. I don't go to music concerts much anymore (because tickets are expensive af here), I don't watch as many movies as I used to (because tickets here are also, expensive af) and let's face it y'all don't care about my life. There is literally nothing to update.

I'm sitting in an Economics lecture right now because the heat outside is unbearable and I literally have nothing better to do until my Advertising lecture in an hour. So this is my life. Sitting down at a lecture that isn't my own so procrastination feels less guilty.

Though tbh I do want to start drunk blogging again. Problem is I'm not a first year student anymore and barely drink anything. Plus my Asian flush has gotten worst in the last couple of years that 2 sips of cider will make my face red and my heart beat inhumanely fast.
But mark my words, mark it in your diaries and in your iphones and your iCalendar, I will start blogging again. I will start writing something vaguely interesting and probably not important, but I will start writing again. Until then...

REMEMBER WHEN I USED TO BLOG?

I don't. Like what do I even talk about now? What do I even write? Who the fuck is reading this. Nadia. Nadia will read it, and then scoff while she eats her baby carrots. Fuck your baby carrots girl. Well TBH y'all, I was going to write something again the next time I get drunk. But I keep forgetting and without the influence of alcohol I'm 120% less interesting which leaves my current interesting LVL at -20%. But you know what, it's raining outside, I got bored watching Jurassic Park: The Lost World and I have no friends so let's do a quick recap/review of what is up and about.

 CONCERT LIST
  • Mac Demarco + Jirapah
...That's it. Hm. I would say "oh look how time have changed" but no it's more like "oh look how much I've grown because I'm more financially aware now like WOW concerts are fucking EXPENSIVE" especially in Australia like seriously tuition and living cost is expensive enough in this state.

MUSIC YAY
I actually have written a blog post about music and self expression somewhere in my old laptop but just didn't have time to finish it up but, I will. One day. But want some music stuff? LET ME THROW MUSIC AT YOU

Should I stop throwing music?

Well then, that's the end of this post. Is it too late to make a 'Best of 2014' list? Hm. I guess it is. Well I'll probably be to lazy to make one anyway. There's so much things I gotta do yknow? Like ranting to myself on the internet, bugging Nadia online, eating Golden Gaytimes and NOT cleaning my apartment. Ah, good times. But I swear, on my mother's non-existent third ear, I will continue blogging again this year. Not for you, not for me, but for my English. English is weird and hard language fuck English man.

fun fact: I got one of my wisdom tooth taken out and lost 2 kilos from only eating soup for two weeks. I have experienced hell.

A SICK POST

You know when people describe something as "sick"? Like "man that Backstreet Boys secret gig was sick!" said no one ever. It's more likely to hear "sick" as "something awesome" amongst skater boys, hipsters, or just young people in general I don't know I'm making shit up right now.
But when I say this is a "Sick Post" i meant it. It's sick. As in, ill. Like fucking ill. Long story short is that I'm writing this post because I'm sick and I have nothing else to do. Or anyone else to talk to because other people have lives unlike me. So apart from my disgusting days of not being able to hold in food in my stomach, I'll just talk to myself in a form of a blog post because then I won't go crazy from creating delusions in my head. But to you music listeners, here's something new:

Several of my friends have in fact pointed out that my newfound love for anime have intrude with my love for music, which I disagree to because I still listen to music. Okay sure I haven't been listening to 'the usual' bands I listened to or been keeping up to date with the alternative music world but hey, anime soundtracks are just as good, ok? I mean I still enjoy the occasional Real Estate, Wild Beasts, No Age or Cloud Nothings but at the same time I quite enjoy some good Morning Musume, DOES, Spyair and Hatsune Miku.

Growing up, many of my friends and peers often look down upon a specific music genre (but let's be honest here everyone does this I mean hello can anyone take David Guetta seriously?). So when my music taste changed from "alternative math-rock" to "anything that is fitting for a shounen anime" the first thing my best friend said to me was
But there's just something about anime songs, or maybe just jrock/jpop in general that is so uplifting. Like, it makes you believe you can save the world or win that basketball game or defeat the titans to save humanity. Y'all know where I'm going with this aren't you? Of course you do. Here's my [current] top 10 "listen to this and believe" anime songs (in no particular order but let's face it zankoku na tenshi no teeze is always #1):

Now I can easily categorise them by anime, or by musical genre, or by awesomeness or by appropriateness (tbh I often find great music in shitty anime and vice versa like how do I deal with that? I breakdown crying trying to figure out to love it or hate it), but I won't. So here's some extra music you should listen! Here are some vocaloids that I hated at first but learned to love now: (this first one has the best lyrics fyi)

AND ANOTHER ADDITION TO THE ADDITION okay so in between my "alt music" phase and my "anime music" phase I briefly had an "epic orchestral music" phase which ranged from classical orchestra music, battle theme songs from video games/films and even celtic music so to give a little appreciation for orchestral anime music let me just give you this:

wow I don't think I've ever had such a messy post okay I'll stop now so tl;dr anime music is pretty sick dudez.

WHAT IS THE BLAWG LYFE?

Hi. It's been a while. I know no one actually reads this, and I haven't actually had the time (or inspiration) to continue my blog. Apparently I "am a busy person" someone said, it's like I have a life now or something (ha ha sure me, a life?). But for some reason uni have been a bitch in the ass last semester I'm not sure why but now that that's over I can focus on more important things; like life, sexting, crying over anime and dancing to vocaloid songs. But winter holiday has come, and there here are some pictures of what I've been up to (tbh it's not a lot lol what happened to having a life ha ha)

Speaking of It's been a while, I'm helping out in a play again this holiday called It's Been A While that goes on from July 15th until July 19th and it's an awesome play with an awesome director, producer, writer, cast and crew about friendship, life, love and teen angst or something like that. If you're in Sydney, you should come and see it.
Well I need to take a shower now, because after 8 hours in the theatre I kind of smell of sweat, frustration and despair x

LET'S TRY THIS SCHEIßE

SO music right? What great things you can hear with your ears. So melodic and so influential.
I dont really know what i'm talking about to honest.
Fuck this I wanna go to bed.
But I wanna write something ok? I wanna write something while intoxicated and read it in the morning and be like "what the fuck is wrong with me just ugh fuck off you're wasting your time."
dont' read this yo're probably wasting your time. And fuck it my laptop doesn't have autocorrect I'm tired of clicking the delete button
My friend told me today that deep fried butter on a stick exist. like who eat that kind of things? Apparently peaopl do, a freakin butter on stick. But no, it's deep fried.

I finished catching up on Supernatural and South Park and House of Cards now I'm just bassicaly done and I don't want to be done because that means I now have to continue on studying which is why I'm in Australia in the first place. I don't like saying "I" a lot let's change the subject into something more objective.

The amygdala, yeah that little thing inside your brain, is said to be Almond-shaped. I don't get it why is it almond-shaped do we all have almond shaped amygdala? why is it almond shaped? Why did I capitalised Almond? But the amygdala is great it's basically a little thing, like tiny tiny part and it control of our emotions and memory. Like, both memory and emotions which is pretty badass. Particular fear, apparently. According to some studies that the left and right amygdala in both parts of your brain control either your pleasant memory/feelings and unpleasant ones. It's like, one side of your brain is evil. Not evil, evil is a pretty strong word. but we're all pretty evil anyway aren't we?

you know what fuck this im going to bed. peace.

FW: FOALS WEEKEND

#1 28/09/2013
Hawaiian shirts. Denim shorts. Unnecessary hats? Floral shirts. Excited facial. Great hair.
I followed a group of people that matched the categories above, and found myself in front of Enmore Theatre after somewhat being lost in Newtown. This method have helped me several times in finding concert venues when I'm lost, like that time in Singapore when I got lost in Fort Canning Park on my way to see Friendly Fires.
I met up with Vivien and her cutesy car, and spent nearly thirty minutes to find parking. But once parking was sorted, and we weren't too keen too see Alpine, we got gelato instead. But let's skip all those parts.

Not being big fans of Alpine, Vivien and I started the night with a few drinks; aka Jack in a can. Then close to 9.20 the band started. Pretty sure everyone in the crowd was on the verge of having an epileptic seizure from the strobe lights, but since we were standing next to the lighting desk I was mesmerised by the tech guy. Like, how much does he get pay? Does he get free drinks like the band? How long did it take you to record all of those lights? What does that button do? The lights were amazing, by the way. Apart from the strobe lights, I didn't particularly enjoy but the rest of the night it was amazing. Real 'in your face' type of lights.
Also I apologised to her once and I'll do it again, I'm sorry I had to go pee during Total Life Forever Vivien. It was those Jack in them cans.
The setlist for the night?
Prelude
Total Life Forever
Blue Blood
My Number
Providence
Milk & Black Spiders
Spanish Sahara
Red Socks Pugie
Late Night
Inhaler
Encore
FUCKING HUMMER MAN
Two Steps, Twice.

I have to be honest, I don't think I'm as obsessive or fanatic with Foals as I was before. I think it's part of me growing up. So I didn't know they played Hummer the two nights before in Melbourne. I didn't know they have been playing it quite a while in their tour. And it literally just, SWAYED ME AWAY OFF MY FEET (in a realistic way meaning that, I jumped in excitement). Also the fact that I was half-ranting to Vivien before the show how I wished they would play Hummer but I knew they won't because it's been too long and they probably forgot how to play it but THEY DID OK? THEY DID.
So when they started playing that, I simultaneously spilled this woman's drink all over her and stomped her feet. I apologised duh but, that didn't stop her and her friends to give me bitchy death glares. Well fuck you woman, I'm not sorry anymore.
Then during Two Steps, Twice Yannis went to our side of the crowd and literally jumped in front of us. He was, right there. The fangirl in me came back for a split second and pretty sure all I did was screamed because we all know what's coming next. He's going to make his way upstairs to the balcony and jumped. So once he was on the balcony, it seemed he had some doubts. He took his time to find a jumping point and after a while, he gave his guitar to someone, and he jumped. He fucking jumped. And it was just 10/10. When he came back on stage, he was shoeless, shirtless but not guitar-less.

#2 29/09/2013
I heard this show hadn't sold out, so by default I'm assuming the fans in the crowd won't be as wild or dedicated as the ones in the first night.
Maybe it was the area we stood, maybe it was the people, but I had more fun in the second show. Safe to say I don't think I've ever went this 'full-on' in a gig before. Here are the setlist:

Prelude
Total Life Forever
Olympic Airways
My Number
Blue Blood
Providence
Milk & Black Spiders
Spanish Sahara
Red Socks Pugie
Late Night
Electric Bloom
Encore
Inhaler
Two Steps, Twice.

No Hummer but I was happy about it because it seems like it was 'exclusively' for the first Sydney show. But Electric Bloom though, it just made me miss listening to Antidotes. And after listening to their old stuff again I've always wondered what it was like to hear XXXXX live instead of their new Prelude.
I think the fact that more people around us at that night danced, made it more fun. It wasn't as awkward as it was the day before. Like the majority of the people around us were dancing, and we were all tired. Resting for merely 5 seconds before the next song started and we all started jumping around again.
Sadly, during Two Steps, Twice when Yannis once again tried to jumped from the balcony, the security guards wouldn't let him. It was quite funny to see it actually. Very comic, like one of those things you see in cartoons. Like literally he was about to jump, the security guard who was way bigger than him strongly grabbed his arms and shook his head. Yannis smiled, and tried to negotiate but the security guard was firm. Knowing he didn't have any luck Yannis disappeared in the crowd, soon after so did the security guards. Seconds later Yannis reappeared after hoping that he lost the guards in the crowd, he quickly made his way to jump from the balcony but his plan was foiled by the same security guard who took him by his shoulders and literally pulled him back. Pretty sure everyone was smiling and laughing, including the band members and crews. The security guards didn't seem amused though.

Notable crowd members?
Well there was a guy in the wheelchair right in the corner in the front, one of the security guards gave him Jack's drumstick at the end. It was really cool. And then there was this girl after the show we met who looked confused. Turns out she had thrown her bra to the stage during the show, now she wants it back. It was quite funny, especially when she had to ask a security guard and a couple of roadies if they've seen it. They were all laughing too, but at the end she got her grey bra back.

Also at the end of the gig I saw these two girls (they wouldn't be more than 18 or 19 to be honest) sneakily making their way backstage. Like it was really sneaky, you can tell it wasn't their first time. But at the end they failed, so maybe it was their first time. Pretty cool what they did though, I always wanted to do that when I was 14, but I never had the balls to do it.
Vivien is the most notable crowd member for both nights, because she's lovely and I want to thank her for giving the opportunity to get to see Foals on their both shows. Even though she almost killed me—twice, in one day.

PUB CRAWL MADNESS: THE WORLD'S END REVIEW

It's time for a sad farewell to the last instalment of the oh-so-famous 'Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy'—written by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg, starring Pegg and Nick Frost, along with the copious amount of familiar faces.

It all begin with strawberry (red), as Shaun fights the undead to save his family, friends and relationship during a zombie outbreak. The romzomcom (romantic zombie comedy), Shaun of the Dead, plays a tribute to classic zombie films particularly the works of George A. Romero and Sam Raimi. Then it moved on to vanilla (blue), where an anal-retentive London police officer investigates a series of mysterious deaths in a small town with his newly appointed childish partner. Hot Fuzz, similar to its preceder, plays a form of homage to action—particularly Hollywood—movies like Bad Boys and Point Break. Now, the makers of these two fantastic films have moved on to give the world: mint (green), better known as The World's End coming out to Australian cinemas on August 1st. The story follows five childhood friends (or more fittingly, mates) whom drifted apart after high school graduation and begin to live their own lives. That is until Gary King (Simon Pegg) convene the group to go back to their hometown of Newton Haven and finish a pub crawl that they have designed in High School. Though all things are not as it seems, and The World's End has its own twist and tricks up its sleeves that Wright have tried to keep on the down low as much as possible. The new film brings to light various motives from perpetual adolescence and old grievances to the consolation of life. Since Shaun of the Dead was about getting responsibility and taking control of your life, and Hot Fuzz was about caring about the people in your personal life and not just focussing on the job, The World's End explores both of these themes merging them together. King's (Pegg) journey in taking responsibility and stop living in the past, and his mates' realisation of how important the past was in shaping the present them. And whether there is a possibility to grow up without growing old.

An encapsulation of themes from the first two instalment are expected by fans, and it does not disappoint. Director Edgar Wright, had successfully brought in the old crew to make a fantastically entertaining and bitter ending for audience. Wright's editing niche of the distinctive slam-bang-transitions and subtle humorous pop culture references, brought the essence of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz together. Let's not forget, the iconic fence-jumping scenes. Zombie, crime-action and science fiction: Wright, Pegg and Frost had done the ultimate trilogy of British satirical fun in providing a choppy and sharp-shift fighting scenes different from contemporary Hollywood action films. Seeing Pegg, Frost, Martin Freeman, Rosamund Pike, Paddy Considine and Eddie Marsan kicking arse in fighting alien robots in hopes of finishing 'the golden mile' is as entertaining as it can get. The World's End is more than just an end-of-the-world survival movie, nor it is a bros-reliving-the-past movie like Hot Tub Time Machine. It is definitely a must-see summer flick particular those who have been following Wright, Pegg and Frost's work since Spaced.
8.5/10

NOTE: I may or may not make a post about the Q&A with Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg & Nick Frost that might also include an interview my friend and I did with Edgar Wright. While also telling the story how my friend creeped Nick Frost out in the elevator. Should I?

|Heads Talking|

song of the week:

Everyone is angry all the time. They're angry at the world, because it's not going the way they are planning. They're angry at an enemy. They're angry at a loved one. They're angry at fictitious scenarios They're angry at this at that at everything. No one and nothing, is capable of being loved by everyone or everything. There is never a unanimous verdict. Yes we all agree genocides are bad yeah? No, there are people out there that thinks genocide is or was necessary. See how opinions clash? Creating what kids? Conflict, that's right. Don't talk about world peace, there can never be world peace. At least not in this universe, not the way people are behaving and thinking now. It's literally impossible. But then there are others who believe, that it's not impossible but just improbable. That maybe the case yes, and then some close-minded scholars would shout at them "how can you be so foolish and naive?!" with a booming English voice. Why? I don't know that's how I imagine a scenario would happen, if this blog would ever become a short video which is never.

So what am I saying? I don't know, I'm merely pointing out the obvious that most people seem to forget. That literally every fucking human being in this damned world has a fucking opinion. Sorry for the swears, but it really shows my anger doesn't it? Swearing shows anger, and I'm angry because so many fucking assholes forget this. Oh or maybe not forget, just put aside or disregard this. Well surely it is more time efficient, and more productive because  you can never hear every opinion of every person? If you're the president or prime minister of [whatever country you choose], and your goal is to help 'the people' live better etc you need to hear their opinions yes? In terms of what do the people want, what do the people need, the ideas of the people to make this country great. Of course, but surely being someone up so high and mighty with so much power invested in you, you just can't listen to every opinion. Then let's take it to a smaller scale, to a classroom! Yes classrooms are perfect examples! You know why? Because often enough, whether you're in kindergarten or university, the same shit happens every fucking time. What shit? Well the shit that students and teachers (maybe both maybe just one of them) would not take an opinion into account. Let's face it, we all want to speak up whether we're angry about something or to show our love for something.
I've always been told from a young age to speak your mind up, to contribute in class/group activities, to have a say in everything. That's good, we do need to speak up, we do need to contribute, because everyone has a say in something don't they? Often though, these people that have so much things to say, have little opportunity to do it. Why? There are many factors to it, but here are what I think, the main ones:

    •    They would often be overshadowed by the extroverted talkative know-it-alls
    •    Social anxiety
    •    Language barriers

Starting with numero uno. I shouldn't have used the word know-it-all because that seems judgmental, because often I applaud these people. They're not scared to speak up, they speak their opinions out and let the world know in lectures because why not share things they know to contribute to the larger picture? But compare these people, to those stay quiet in class, they seem to be like a know-it-all. Of course they probably not, it's not their fault they're so active in class. In fact, it's an admirable thing! Though I do have to add that this does not apply to everyone, number one also counts as those irritating know-it-alls that think they do know everything and would just keep on talking because they find themselves more superior to others hence their opinions matter more. I call, bullshit. These two types have one common ground, that they tend to overshadow others. Now, I was a quiet kid as a child because of this. Wow those people seem so confident, I can never be as confident as they are because I'm not as pretty, I'm not as thin, I'm not as rich, I'm not as buff, I'm not as outspoken, I'm not as mature, I'm not as experienced or I'm not as successful. My grades are not as good, and my peer relationships sucks. Well that's what happens. And often these people who are used to speaking up and shit are so used to be the only voice of the class, that they often cut people off? Does anyone notice this? I mean come on, there goes a quiet little kid that rarely talks trying to say something and then BAM there you are with your loud voice so everyone can hear cutting that kid off. Is that really fair?
Then we have numero dos. It's like when you're in class, the teacher asked a general question to everyone. Everyone is quiet, but you instantly know the answer. The teacher kept eyeing everyone in class studying their facial expressions whilst the students look down avoiding eye contact. A student yelled out an answer, the teacher applaud at the student's effort but it's the wrong answer. You slap yourself mentally, damn it [your name] get a hold of yourself you know the fucking answer just say it, just say it out loud. Now you're thinking of speaking up, but your heart begins to race you can feel it. Your hand/leg shakes, you look down confused and try to control your breathing so it will go unnoticed to the person sitting next to you. Ah too late you blew your chance to impress the teacher because he moved on to the next question. You suck. Now time for you to regret this moment for the next 5 years.
And now number tres, oh number three yes. I'm not just talking for those who have English as a second language if you happen to study in a English-speaking country. This is just in general, maybe you're an American living in China or a Chinese living in America, bottom line you're not very good at this language. It's also important to point out this doesn't have to be the case, it could also just be your language skills. Moving on, we certainly see people that have the ability to speak without pauses or "Err" and "Um.." in awe, especially if they use difficult vocabulary. Oh wait sorry, I meant those who are prone to use intricate terminologies formulating an astute semblance of one self. Did that even make any sense? I got to be honest with you, I used a thesaurus for the last sentence. But any who, imagine if you have to argue or even worse, go on a debate, with this type of person. They throw in their hard-to-understand language at you, and as you try to keep a calm expression in your head you're going all, "bitch just said whaaaaa?" So again imagine in class, one of your classmate are very active in discussions and her vocabulary is flawless. Her answers would always be so cohesive and straight to the point while she uses correct terminologies. "Who proposed the theory of gravitation?" A teacher would ask. A kid would answer, "Isaac Newton in 1687 after he published Principia which hypothesizes the inverse-square law of universal gravitation!" and you, yes you, all nervous and intimidated by those other kids, speak up and answer "Newton because, of that apple that fell from that tree. Right?"

Am I exaggerating in these scenarios? Perhaps, but think about it. I get intimidated by my classmates often enough, since the first day my mother put me in pre-school, I would just rarely speak. And it's not like teachers don't encourage students to speak up believe me they do, and we often just roll our eyes with a bitch face saying "leave me alone please." It just makes me angry and sad at the same time, that so many people don't get a say in something because other people (both intentionally and unintentionally) think that their opinions are better than most. Maybe that's the case sometimes, for example: Brian Cox's thoughts on the theory of relativity is far more important than the thoughts of an 18 year old schoolgirl getting Cs in physics. But certainly this does not apply in classroom discussions, right? We're floating on the same boat here, we're all studying here, maybe you do have more experiences than I and maybe you are more educated and clever and I'm sorry I don't understand most of your Shakespearian references, or process words as quickly as you do but don't cut me off when I am trying to say something. And try to give other people a chance to talk too, we get you're passionate and you have so many things to say but give other chances to speak up as well there! And don't you dare cut them off or 'finish their sentence' without a louder voice. Capiche?
Rabbit, out.

And in that moment, I was sure I was Chris Pine. A less successful and handsome and pretty and well-groomed and talented version of Chris Pine. With no testicles. And less flawless hair. Scratch that Chris Pine and I have nothing in common apart from our similar first names.

^^HERE'S TO LIVING LIFE MISERABLE^^

"Death is not the end" Nick Cave said. Is there an 'end' though? Some may believe there is; that is when we die that's it. Christians believe that our bodies would end but not our soul, I have to consult to my family's head evangelist but from my interpretation is that when we die we either have our souls get tortured in hell or be at peace in heaven therefore there is no end. Hinduism believe in reincarnation, our souls will be pass to a new body in the next life, depending on your actions in the present life meaning there is no end either. It's unsettling to think about, because let's face it we are all tired. But I don't want to get philosophical so let's talk about our present lives.

The average life expectancy today is approximately 67.2 years from a study conducted in 2010 but of course it all depends on where you live, lifestyle and physical health in general (Or luck). The human brain would be fully developed generally on average when you're 20-21, and after that you are considered an 'adult' therefore there are a whole load of expectations society expects from you: getting a job, find the love of your life, contribute something to humanity, be a part of the working community as a whole to name a few. I still consider myself as a not fully-developed adolescent at the age of 18. Why? My parents still support me financially and academia is my main priority. Like most students, thinking about the future scare the shit out of me with endless worst case 'what-if' scenarios playing in my head 24/7. Statistically speaking we students cannot all make it to find our dream job, we would leave our parents disappointed and probably won't be entirely happy. Out of six billion people in this planet only a handful is living the dream and usually that feeling is only momentary. I realised no one is truly happy, but most of the things we do whether they are long term or short, we do for happiness. We see those we love happy and we become happy, we get exceptional grades and a good job we become happy, we buy a product we've been desiring we become happy. But it doesn't last long and it becomes a cycle. Not happy --> happy for a while --> not happy again. That is until 'the end.'We have to do this cycle for 60+ years, that is a damn long time. I don't know how The Doctor do it, some would think he should be clinically depressed after all he has been through, but then again he is a fictional character. What if we're all fictional characters with a puppet master arranging our destinies. Like all stories, there are some who succeed and those who don't; there are bad guys and good guys; there are extras in scenes that would only have 2 seconds of screen time.
But C, we have to think positively to succeed in life! It's kind of hard to think positive when there are so much despair in reality, and thinking positively for myself would always in a shattering disappointment. Does this mean i don't believe in myself? Most probable yes, but I believe in others. I believe B would succeed splendidly in her life, become an actress like she always wanted to with the love of her life by her side. I believe N would achieve many things in her future, acquiring her dream job and being fully content for the rest of her lives. I believe K will achieve many great things in his creative works. I believe R will live the rest of her life the fuck she wants to and make a full of life for herself. I believe my sisters will achieve greater things than I would in my entire life.

And you know what? We all live in fear. Of everything, constantly. Fear of death. Fear of failing. Fear of safety. Fear of terrorist attacks. Fear of violence. I have just been reading culture and religious conflicts in Indonesia (which is, way more than I originally thought) and conclude that you can't really do anything to change anyone even though some people believe that using violent forces is an answer to it. I mean there will always be conflict of interest isn't there? If the perfect human being, a saint as you can say, becomes president, there would be a group of people that would not agree. Again, this is a cycle. A cycle within a cycle. Everybody wants to rule the world, I guess world peace is just a theory right? On a lighter note, let's take a look on our daily lives. We also live in fear regularly don't we? Fear of social rejection, fear of being ugly, fear of getting fat. Think of advertisements you see that tells you to "take this vitamin pills to strengthen your bone" doesn't that induce fear that if you don't take these pills, you would become 'unhealthy'? "Use this brand and make your teeth whiter and cleaner, 9 out of 10 Australian dentists approve! *insert a scene of an attractive man/woman smiling*" = inducing fear that if you don't use this, you would not have white and clean teeth therefore become ugly and disgusting.

Living is a curious thing, we've been told at a young age that we could achieve anything we want, to be anything we want to be which is true but most people lost sight of this as they grow older and reality struct them hard on their faces. 18 years is long, a lifetime for some, but barely half a life for most. Think of your grandparents who died at an old age, they have lived through a lot of things. Wars, social change, shifts in style; compare the world now and when they were 18, it's a whole new world. If you play the sims, you realise there is no end. We are like sims. We have likes and dislikes, but in the game our aspirations are much clearer than the real word, and we don't have testingcheatsenabled code we can use in our lives. Heck most students in high school don't know what they want to be when they grow old, the thought of it scare them hence why most would just prefer to live in the moment. Carpe diem and YOLO right kids?

#THIRD-WHEELS#

I've been a member of the third wheel society since middle school when one of my good friend was in a relationship, this was her first (to my knowledge) boyfriend and I remember her telling me that she was nervous on having their first date so she asked me to come along to stop any possible awkward situations that might occur. Good for them, I don't think there were any. I had a fun time too, however I didn't realize at that time that it would be the start of my job as the designated third wheel.

Looking back, I realized I have third wheel for possibly most of my close friends, and funnily I have third wheel in the 3 countries I have lived in: Indonesia, Singapore and Australia. I found it fascinating (more like depressing) that even after moving away twice I still had the ability to become the third wheel but alas, maybe being a third wheel was just meant to be. Maybe I was born to be a third wheeler. Maybe my duty in life, my 'dharma' as one might say, is to forever be a third wheeler. Hopefully not.
To make things clear, it's not that I am complaining about being a third wheel or have a great dislike of being one because that's not the case at all. On the contrary, I am usually good friends with the two other parties (who are the couples) so the three of us would not be as uncomfortable. However, I'm not sure if they (these couples I have third wheeled for) realize how awkward it is to be in the third wheel position sometimes. I know most couples try to make the situation or outing as less awkward as it can be for the third wheel, surely and hopefully none of them had deliberately ignore the third wheel the whole time; they all try to have a good time. This simply does not work in some cases. It is inevitable no matter how hard you try it. Let's have a scenario:

Leslie and Mark are dating. They are both very good friends with Jennifer whom they hang out a lot with during the weekends. So Leslie and Mark invited Jennifer out to the city on the Saturday. In my opinion there are only 4 possible ways this can end up.
  1. Leslie, Mark and Jennifer all had a wonderful time. In some moments Leslie and Mark would do what couples generally do such as holding hands and sharing a kiss or two which is perfectly understandable and Jennifer understands too even though at times it does make the situation a bit awkward or uncomfortable for Jennifer. People on the streets would easily point the odd one out.
  2. Leslie and Mark, knowing Jennifer would be joining them, decides their best not to act so 'couple-y' around Jennifer on Saturday which makes things awkward for everyone. Jennifer would be confused to whether why they are not acting as they should be. Leslie/Mark would probably have an awkward moment when Jennifer and their other partner talk more than the couple themselves. There would always be one person in the group that feels left behind.
  3. Jennifer had a horrible time whilst Leslie and Mark were blinded by their own love towards one another and complete ignored Jennifer's presence.
  4. Before the three even gone out of their houses an UFO hovers above Earth and an unexpected alien invasion occurs which by default ruined their plans of going out to the city.
What I am curious about, is how different people react to third wheeling. Personally I'm getting sick of third wheeling, the many times I had been a third wheeling is now uncountable. But then again this might also be just the PMS talking. Either way, I don't want to third wheel anymore. In most cases if I can avoid to be a third wheel, I shall avoid it. No offense to anyone it's just, I'm tired. Nothing personal. Fifth wheeling is also out of the question.
These days, being a third wheel just makes me feel (pardon my french) fucking shitty. You know how tiresome it is to have the thought that if in the unlikeliness of a catastrophic event, the two lovebirds would save one another undoubtedly. To make it more simple, it's like in primary school when there are three friends and the teacher tells us to choose a partner you would be the one that would always gets left out. I have experienced the series of head turns with the apologetic "Sorry, but I'm with her/him" from various people. You paddle your own canoe fuckers [this was from a book, I don't remember which book but it made sense].
Another thing I am curious about is if couples realize how they can unintentionally make us third wheelers feel super shitty.

So long story short (if y'all were too lazy to read the rest of the post), after years of being a third wheel in hang outs, parties, cinemas and even graduation, being a third wheel makes you feel like shit.

Now go make out with your boyfriend/girlfriend. If you don't have one yet, you will. Use protection. And I'll probably third wheel with you guys too.

  • I Got Mine
I remember I bought my Black Keys tickets from Ticketmaster on the day it first went on sale to the public. I bought two tickets, even though I didn't have anyone to go with, but past-me thought "I'll find someone to go with, eventually."
So on the day, I went to the gig with Natalie. We came there quite early, well it wasn't that early but I was surprised by the amount of people that were already in the venue which is... Not very many. So then we decided to go to the merch stall where I kept contemplating with Natalie which shirt I should get.
"I do like the white one, I'll get the white one... But the black one is actually pretty cool too and I wear black more anyway, maybe I should get the black one. Oh right you told me not to buy anymore black clothes ok I'll buy the white... but the white is more expensive... Ok whatever white is cooler too. Ugh the black one is really cool hm maybe the black one, yeah I'll wear the black one more. Omg we're closing in we're in the front of the line I have to decide now oh crap errr ok black. NO ok i'm fix on white. White it is then. Yes white. But the black one....."
That went on for 5-10 minutes, I don't know how Natalie put up with me but I'm glad she did because as she payed for our shirts she said "Someone's birthday is coming up soon" and handed me the black shirt after I bought the white shirt so now I have TWO BLACK KEYS SHIRT Y'ALL. Forever grateful to Natalie, on the spot my mouth were wide open and I immediately hugged her which made the merch guy laugh.
Happy with the shirts I now have, we went inside the venue and sat down because it might take a while. It did take a while, and very slowly people begin to come in. I remember at one point around 8:14pm, everyone who was sitting down just stood up in unison and ran towards the very front of the crowd which was weird because nothing was going on at that time. But both of us joined in the crowd anyway. Not long after, the opening band came on stage; Royal Headache.

I got to admit their name is pretty cool, I tried listening to one or two songs on youtube before we went to the concert. But I didn't expect them to be so, I honestly don't know any words to describe them.
Songs? Not really my cup of tea. Heavy generic guitar riffs, fast paced recycled drum beats, groovy bass trips and really nice vocals. Check them out, you might like them.
Style? This part confused me the most, because I don't know what style they are. You know when you just put bands into genre, like the Black Keys is a blues-rock band. But with Royal Headache, I'm not sure, because their stage presence was very different from what their songs sound like, at least for me it was.
The thing that particularly bothered (not necessarily bothered, more to, mind-boggling) me the most is the lead singer's behaviour. Firstly, he was wearing an oversize shirt and baggy pants while letting his long hair flow around his shoulders. Appearance doesn't matter I know, it actually doesn't, but then with that look and with him pacing back and forth the stage plus holding his mic up high, he looks like those singers from a screamo band. Or a metal band. To be quite honest. When he lifted that mic I thought he was about to scream or sing in those sort of grunge tone that only Darth Vader can understand but no, his voice was very choir-like. His voice was good, you don't really expect him to sing like that with that style, it was just.... An interesting sight to see. Definitely something new, but still not my cup of tea.
Speaking of tea let me make myself some tea first.
Okay tea's ready, back to bloggin'.

As we all anticipate for the Black Keys to come on stage, roadies and backstage crews and security guards set up the stage. Interestingly, some of the roadies are dressed very nicely. By nice I mean in a full on suit. Stay classy roadies.
Alas The Black Keys came on stage and the crowd went wild. The show was pretty much describable, and honestly they performed live way better than I expected. If you look at videos of their live shows. I think I had the most enjoyable moment when they played (in no particular order): I Got Mine, Howlin' For You and a tie between Your Touch and Tighten' Up. When they came back on stage for the encore, a big giant disco ball came down from the ceiling and we had a mini disco party as they play Everlasting Light. When the song ended, the disco ball was taken away too. What I did not expect was the light sign that appeared when they played their last song I Got Mine, the sign said 'THE BLACK KEYS' and it lights up as Dan played the riffs of the song. It was, what's that word I keep using to describe the gig? Awesome.
Crowd, I thank you. At least those around me, they were all fun. Particularly everyone that was in the front row was incredibly energetic. The people around me however, not so much.

NOTABLE GIG-GOERS
Hi two guys behind/next to me. Yeah you two, you guys do realized you talk really loud right? And you guys talk throughout the whole gig? Thank you though, some parts of your conversation was quite funny, it kept me entertained and at some moments I would look down at laugh to myself while eavesdropping on you two talking. I remember one guy said if they could go back in time and attend any gig, he said he wanted to go back to 1969 to see the Beatles' last rooftop gig. The other guy said something about 1995. Then they mentioned Arctic Monkeys. One guy particularly said he does not like the Wombats while the other one said "they're not that bad." My favorite part of their conversation would be when they were talking about Royal Headache.
Guy 1: ..............
Guy 2: ..............
Guy 1: ...............I quite like them
Guy 2: *stares at guy 1*
Guy 1: *stares at guy 2*
Guy 2: .............really?
And then both of them burst out laughing. I don't know it reminded me of AnCo going to gigs, it's something we would do. And my other favorite part is the fact that they knew how to sing along to every song the band played, and they made assumptions which songs they would play next. Natalie thought they were annoying, I agree with her, they remind me of a particular person that shall remain nameless that I used to go to high school with (Tuna would probably know who it is), but then again I secretly want to hang out with them too.

All the girls that were in the front and second row in front of me minus one of the girl's boyfriend, yeah not you, plus the girl that ended up jumping next to me during the Black Keys' encore. Y'all are awesome so energetic making the gig even more fun keep up the viba yall.

Anjing ngempet 2 guys and the girl in front of me why are y'all so dead during the whole gig for the exception when Officer Carney and Killer Dan played Lonely Boy? Geez, well I noticed the girl was, for most of the time took pictures and videos which was understandable. But the two guys she was with. Why? Just standing there. I'm sorry I keep bumping into you guy, well... No I'm not. Stop being such a buzzkill it makes me sad look at this emoticon :''''(

Well I guess that's about it.
Overall: 8.5/10
This gig is definitely going to my 'concert of the year' nomination list. Yeah I have little awards for concerts I go to okay and you're not invited because it's a private party (the party is basically me staying in my room laughing by myself thinking about the awards).

Peace, love and gaul y'all.

BOURNE LEGACY AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE 7 AUG '12

Not jumping to conclusion or anything but, I could not think of anything that personally went wrong today. Nothing. At all.
WARNING: This post will be a long post. I am writing it as soon as I got back from the premiere so, the adrenaline is still here.

I had won passes thanks to the lovely people from filmink magazine to go to the Australian premiere of The Bourne Legacy, also on the guest list is director Tony Gilroy and actor Jeremy Renner. Those who know me, would know about my renner obsession. I found out the news on Thursday, and by Monday the passes still have yet to arrived. I was pissed, it was night time and I wanted my passes. That is until my mom suddenly called me saying she got an email from UniLodge telling her that I had received a parcel and it was to be collected in the reception immediately, I jumped out of my seat and ran downstairs in my pajamas (she called me at 7:58pm and the reception closes at 8pm). I got down and they were closing down but the receptionist was nice enough to give me my parcel. What do you know, it was 2 passes to the premiere. I started squealing along the corridors of Unilodge. That night we also decided that lovely Natalie will accompany me to the premiere.

Woke up 12 hours before Renner took his first step onto the red carpet, I could not concentrate the whole day. Even in class I would just stare at the ceiling and start a conversation with my friends starting with the sentence "You know what day it is today? *creepy smile* IT'S FINALLY TUESDAY." I was so excited, I wanted to puke. Literally, my stomach was just not right and I did not eat anything the whole day. So my last class ended and I straight went to the city, Natalie and I have arranged to meet up at Dymocks because we just love books don't we. On my way there, I spot a couple of fans waiting near the entrance and recognized one of them as Carina (who I have been stalking the whole day to get some renner updates) and I started talking to her and her friends.
This is lovely Carina and behind is her friend Gino.
Suddenly I realized that the security guard that is guarding the entrance is the same security guard from school. So I picked up my friend, and went to say Hi to the security guard and what do you know, he recognized us. To cut the story short, I shall put the rest of the story in dot points.
  • Waited for a while until they assigned us fans where to stand for the red carpet. At one point the security guard, Kevin, and his friend were talking about my friend and I as he was whispering something and dead on pointed at us. Why? The next point should explain why.
  • This why Kevin is great, as they let the media people in first, Kevin told my friend and I both to come to him. We were of course confused, and turns out he got us one of the best spot. We thank you Kevin. We are very grateful.
  • Carina and I started doing stretches as we wait for Tony Gilroy and Jeremy Renner to come by.
  • Tony Gilroy got off from his black SUV, spoke to a couple of fans which luckily includes me too. Had a decent usual conversation with him such as "how are you?" or "how are you liking Sydney?" He noticed my pass and excitedly asked "You're going to watch the premiere?" I said yes and he looked ecstatic.
  • approximately 20 minutes after Gilroy came by, everyone was wondering where Renner is. Suddenly everything went silent and the cars in the traffic were gone and WOOOSSHH sounds of motorcycle stunts were everywhere and TADA! Renner came in, in a motorcycle. Everyone cheered. A lot of us then shouted "LET'S STRETCH BITCHESSSSSSSSSSSS!" which he laughed. His publicist would later ask me "who shouted that?" I answered all of us did, she looked surprised and asked "oh you guys watched that?!" Oh yes we did.
  • As he went pass through me and my friend, we got autographs and pictures however unlike the conversation with Gilroy, he had to move faster since more fans are eager to see him.
  • THE HAWKWARD MOMENT I HAD WITH HIM AND HIS PUBLICIST SHALL BE KEPT AT THE END OF THE POST BECAUSE IT IS THE MOST AMUSING THING IN MY OPINION (usually my embarrassing moments are amusing to my friends).
  • After meeting Renner, my friend and I decided to hurry and went into the theater since the seating is first come first serve. As we're walking, Kevin looked surprised because he didn't know we had passes. Kevin is amazing y'all.
  • Walking and jumping and strutting down the red carpet like a bad ass mofo.
  • The seats were quite full so we asked the usher who placed us in the first freakin row. We got first row seating.
  • Renner and Gilroy came on stage for a while. Tony Gilroy recognized me and my friend from the crowd, I smiled at him and he smiled back from the stage. It was an awesome moment.
  • As I haven't eaten all day, luckily Universal Pictures have given everyone in the premiere little boxes of snacks which consists of: peanuts, crackers, cheese and a macaroon. It was nice. Technically that was my whole meal for the day.
  • I just love it when the crowd starts clapping at the end of the movie, which is what happened tonight.
  • I know this is not related but ONE OF MY FAVORITE MUSICIAN FOLLOWS ME ON TWITTER AND IT BROUGHT UP MY MOOD EVEN MORE WHICH I DIDN'T THINK WAS POSSIBLE.
First legit premiere I've ever been to, and it was great. And all of it I have to thank you filmink. Photos I took with Tony Gilroy and Jeremy Renner are on facebook.
READY FOR THE HAWKWARD MOMENT STORY? HERE IT GOES.
After exchanging a few words with Renner. He slowly moved along, for some reason (this is me starstruck and the fact that my best friend, Tuna, control half of my mind) I stared at his arm. And then for some reason without thinking it through, these words came out of my mouth: "Can I poke your arm?"
After 5 seconds of my brain finally working, I mentally slap myself and thought 'WHY THE FUCK DID I JUST SAY THAT THE FUCK CHRYS FUCK ICAN WUT FUCK THE HELL'
I quickly add, "Too weird isn't it? It is too weird." Him and his publicist both were laughing and said "Yeah maybe just a little bit."
HEY AT LEAST I DIDN'T POKE HIS NOSE LIKE I ORIGINALLY PLAN OK THAT WAS EVEN WEIRDER ugh what is wrong with you brain but it would make a funny story to tell the folks; the hawkward moment with the hawk.

The only regret I have is that I should have said something in Indonesian to him like I don't know on the top of my head "ANJING LO GANTENG BANGET BABI" or maybe something more subtle such as "PANTAT LO"
And so the Renner Sydney Invasion has come to an end, peace y'all x

✶☽THE ART OF FLIRTING☾✶

flirt |flərt|
verb
1 [ intrans. ] behave as though attracted to or trying to attract someone, but for amusement rather than with serious intentions : it amused him to flirt with her.
• ( flirt with) experiment with or show a superficial interest in (an idea, activity, or movement) without committing oneself to it seriously : a painter who had flirted briefly with Cubism.
• ( flirt with) deliberately expose oneself to (danger or difficulty) : the need of some individuals to flirt with death.
2 [ trans. ] (of a bird) wave or open and shut (its wings or tail) with a quick flicking motion.
• [ intrans. ] move back and forth with a flicking or fluttering motion : the lark was flirting around the site.

I guess that's kind of cheesy isn't it? To put the definition of the intended topic in the beginning of the post but, it does help me. I've actually never tried to look up the word 'flirt' so, ah, now i know it's to wave or open and shut wings or tail with a quick flicking motion.... That was a bad joke.
In all seriousness, my knowledge on this specific... behaviour... is coming close to nil. I have to admit it's a problem, because anytime I actually fancy someone I would just be in, that's right, the friendzone. Or brozone or familyzone or some modern zoning terms they have these days.

I have been thinking about flirting for some time, maybe because it is interesting to show your affection towards a person without actually saying it out front. I always thought why don't people just be straightforward. Oh hey I want to fuck you. Oh you're cute we should really hang out and I see we have several things in common here's my number text me. Not that I have done any of those things, I have thought about them because well, I have no clue on what flirting is. Importantly, how do you differentiate if someone is flirting or if they are just nicer than other people? It's pretty common for a person to just be really nice and is not attracted to you in some sort of way, and it is also common for people to just be playful with no intention whatsoever, is that also called flirting?
One night I was hanging out in the courtyard with some friends, all I know have some experienced with these things of relationship and dating so I asked, "how do people flirt?" They all look at me like I am a person from another planet and continue to respond the question with a "what? why?" Of course they, or at least some of them thought I asked this because I had the intention to actually flirt with a particular person and find a boyfriend but no that was not the case, I was just very curious to what they had to say. Their answer was and I remember this clearly: "well you talk with the guy and laugh, make jokes, smile." I stare at them blankly and reply "........So like... Every. Other. Conversation?" Then they close the conversation by saying "Well you just know! The way they stare or maybe with the some gestures."
That didn't help me with understanding the concept of flirting at all. Nor how to identify if a person is flirting or just being plain nice. Make jokes, smile and laugh? That's pretty broad isn't? I would hate to be at one point think I am making a friend give the wrong impression. The stare? Like having them stare into your soul or some sh-t like that? Then again some people just stare really intensely to others.

So comes the embarrassing bit, my attempt to flirt. Aha ha haha ha. It's quite sad because, I actually did tried to flirt without having the knowledge on what flirting actually is. So I would say this flirting 'experiment' was a failure and he and I ended talking about sex. By that I mean in a way like a 12 year old boy that just founded what a penis and a vagina is.
Another story, my friend and I were in a sandwich shop. I ordered a sandwich. The guy who works there asked if I wanted a 12 inch or a 6 inch so, being the immature person I am, I burst out laughing and said "a 6 inch is fine, just 6. 6 inch." After my friend and I got our sandwiches, my friend said "dude you were totally flirting with the cashier guy!" And I was not. This got me even more confused. It's easy to say "Oh I was totally flirting with this guy" because you know you have the intention to attract the guy and you yourself would call it flirting but then what a third person would comment "dude... That was not flirting."Honestly, that's how my mind works. It is very very dirty, my mind is in the gutter it's just, very immature.
Another other story, I was in the supermarket and saw a quite attractive guy in a Holy Fuck t-shirt. So like any other internet-based kid I tweeted something along the line "someone's wearing a holy fuck tshirt quick how do you flirt" and the response I remember was to come up to the guy and say "nice t-shirt" which was actually pretty good, but... Then what? Of course I wouldn't have that kind of courage to just go up to a total random stranger and compliment them. So I'm guessing complimenting a stranger would be a form of flirting yes? But what if you're complimenting a friend? Let's say, a person you actually know, would that also be considered as flirting? I have been said to be "one of d4 guyzZzz" and I think it's because I laugh at the sexual immature jokes they usually make because I cannot deny it is funny but still what does THAT mean do I have to stop thinking like everything is sexual and pretend that every time someone says something sexual I would just say "OMG you're such a pervert that's gross!"?

So with that, I'm completely helpless with the art of flirting. I would much like someone to be my flirting guru so apply now on www.fuckigotnolifesoallidoiswriteastupidblogughimjustgonnahavesomepizzanow.com/flirtingguru and send in your CV to the email given. I am actually worried about my lack of knowledge in this particular area because honestly I feel very left behind by not knowing any of these while most of my friends seems to get a hang of it. Maybe it's the pressure of having this so called 'college life' or some sh-t.

P.S. most importantly, does asking if a guy gets morning wood or if they are a virgin or if they have a girlfriend or if they jerk off a form of flirting? If so, then....... hm..... Well anyway, I'll just go on and any time I try to flirt with a guy I'll just tell him the pacman story like the way Scott Pilgrim did. That or by saying this list of various pick up lines I have gathered thanks to television and the internet this afternoon:
  1. are you my lawyer because i'm defenceless
  2. your mouth says "shields up" but your eyes say "a hull breach is imminent"
  3. i would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party
  4. i think your clothes are made of kryptonite we've got to get rid of them immediately
  5. i find your lack of nudity disturbing
  6. resistance is futile
  7. someone must have shot you with a phaser set on 'stunning'
  8. you be the tree and i'll wrap you like a koala
  9. hey i just met you and this is crazy well here's my bedroom let's fuck totally

ON A TOTALLY DIFFERENT NOTE THIS IS AN AWESOME SONG THAT I CANNOT STOP LISTENING SO LISTEN AND ENJOY Y'ALL PEACE LOVE AND G@0L.

{I COME FROM THE LAND DOWN UNDER}

It's been almost five months since I moved to Sydney. So far I have encountered some interesting experiences here, I guess it could be more adventurous. To be frank my life is pretty mundane, but having a blog can make it seem more interesting than it actually is... Or make it seem even more mundane. Any who, let's break it down into categories.

UNILODGE
These past few months I've been living in Unilodge Sydney where supposedly students can rent rooms to stay in and the first impression I got from looking inside the building was "well.... At least it's better than living with a home stay family." And it was better because here there are way more interesting people living in the building, most I don't know personally but occasionally see around. My friends and I like to name the people we quite often see, for example the ginger living one the second floor that has a blonde girlfriend we call ginger, or the guy we saw shirtless once we call neun.
A plus side living here is that hanging out with your friends is very easy, you just go to someone's room and chill. I guess that's the best part. The second best part would be the fact that the place is very near a shopping mall (which has supermarkets, shops and most importantly a cinema) and it is near to all the major hang out places my friends and I go to which is the city, newtown and darling harbour. Plus they have great food around which is only 5 minutes away. The downside would be the constant smell of weed or questionable odor along the hallways and how often you see drunk people especially around the weekends. Also the fact that people party up on the roof so loud that you can practically hear the noise from most of the room in building.
Still it's not all too bad, most of the people I have encountered here are nice. Or seemingly nice. Who knows. Maybe they're secretly murderers, highly unlikely but could be a possibility.
Interestingly, my friends and I befriended two people that live in the building I think just because we see them so often. They are pretty cool people; Yusuf. Thomas. If you're reading this, I am talking about you two. You guys are pretty awesome people. I mean Yusuf have like 600 movies with him right now and having three masters he still laughs at the word "testicles" while Thomas who is working on his master thesis is what one call a computer genius with all the programming and computer dilly dally and also share some interest as I including the love for Bob Dylan, Star Wars and Lord of The Rings.
On another note, I bought One Ring. That story goes to another category, maybe.
Overall, I do like living in Unilodge (for now), I cannot wait to get my own place. Cannot. Wait.

FRIENDS
My group of friends are how should I say, a weird bunch. But aren't they all? The three people I spend time with the most are Dolly, Huiyi and Natalie. I practically live with them since everyday after doing all my morning routine I go to their room until the end of the day where I go back to my own room to sleep. They're a nice bunch, we all write notes to each other, buy each other stuff and make up songs together about the boys we fancied. Dolly and I are like twins, we share the same American-based type humor and occasionally put this very American accent we try to pull off. Natalie and I share quite a lot in common, though I am quite intimidated with her very advanced knowledge in maths and chemistry. Huiyi is practically like the mother of the house (or in this case room), we're the same age but she is one of the most mature people I've ever met. When you meet her, you'll know what I mean.
Every time my parents called me they would ask where I am and I would always reply "di rumah tetangga [translation: the neighbor's room]". They both like it that I don't hang out in my own room because apparently, in their words, I am not antisocial anymore like I was in Singapore. Psft. I was never antisocial. That much.

LIFESTYLE
Everything here relatively more expensive, especially if you convert the price to rupiah. Like in Singapore, I still buy a sh-t load of DVDs and go to see the movies a lot in the cinemas. DVDs are somewhat the same price like in Singapore ranging from approximately $10 to $40. The cinema tickets though, student price is $15.50 while in Singapore it is around $7. Though I did just get a couple of free movie tickets so, that's good.
Shopping here is expensive but there are so much more variety than in Singapore and especially Jakarta. I'm sure I'm not the only one when I say I am bored of the same looking young adults with the same styles wearing the same or similar brands. In Sydney, you get more variety. Even the people don't all dress the same, and there are lots who dyed their hair eccentric colors and not get stared at like back home. Seriously though shopping here is much more satisfying than in Singapore or Jakarta. I once bought Rick Astley's first album on vinyl for $2 and a tip top Return of The King DVD for $5. And the amount of vintage stores here, legit vintage stores that does not charge you $50 for a secondhand dress.
The gigs. Oh dear Lord the gigs. It is heaven. The problem? I have no gig buddy. So far I have watched Big Day Out (see previous post), Bombay Bicycle Club and Karen O's production of Stop the Virgens. In the future, I have secured tickets to see The Black Keys and Radiohead, and am thinking of going to Rufus Wainwright, Dark Dark Dark and hopefully Sigur Ros and Beck.

OTHERS
  • First day in Sydney, my mother and I were walking near Haymarket and this shirtless guy was in the middle of the street screaming "FUCK YOU. AND FUCK YOU TOO. FUCK YOU ALL. AND FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU TOO" to everyone in sight. It was a nice warm welcome.
  • One of my friend borrowed $200, he payed me back in 5 cent coins. You know how heavy a bag full of 5 cent coins is? Very. I looked very foolish on the bus. And when I went to get it changed in the bank, a random lady from across the room turned around and laughed at me.
  • The lonely friday nights where I decide to stay home and then usually you can see drunk people fighting from across the street through my window so I just sit there and watch them fight with one another until the police comes.
  • Once I just bought the unknown pleasure t-shirt and was very happy with my purchase, later that night as I was wearing the t-shirt and telling my friend of how happy I am a drunk guy stumbles, stopped, look at the tshirt for 5 seconds then look at me while slurring "y-yeeh like joyyy division?" Is that so surprising?
  • Went to Melbourne for the weekend and bought One Ring. Now I wear the ring everywhere. I am the ring bearer b-tch.
See? It's not very interesting is it?
Confession: I miss Singapore more than I miss Jakarta.

BIG DAY OUT

most attractive crowd
battles I don't know how to explain this really, this is basically based on my personal opinion and well....

most fun crowd
art vs scienceit's amazing how they could make the whole room dance and kneel. Literally they made the crowd kneel, everyone, and those who didn't comply got pointed out and got told to kneel down. The lighting in the Boiler room made the art vs science fans 300% more crazy, from strobes to laser lights the light guy must also be an art vs science fan or knows their song very well as the timing was just so dead on.

most sucky sound
my chemical romance they themselves was good but, the sound system. Did not expect a huge festival like BDO would allow such a big letdown.

the energetic frontman
cage the elephant Matt jumped to the crowd for the second time, came back on stage with a flower bandana, put it on and said "thank you for this, i'm pretty now"

most amusing sight
man and tween girl having a somersault battle in front of HOT PRODUCE stage, man ended up winning as he kept doing cartwheels and falling down and doing it again, occasionally revealing his buttocks and big belly.

the downside
weakest signal ever, don't bother trying to call or text anyone while that person or you are in the orange/blue arena, your text would be received 10-30 minutes after you send it and your calls would just fail.

most dedicated fans
a tie between my chemical romance/kasabian, I've taken this one into a lot of consideration (by a lot I mean, I thought about it more than once), I also considered Soundgarden but looking back, MCR's and Kasabian's fans touched my puny little heart most, especially when kasabian started playing 'Fire'.

notable fangirls/fanboys
in battles guy in the front row wearing a battles tshirt from their last album and was not sold in the festival happily caught half of john's drumstick (literally, half of a drumstick). As the guy next to him got the other end of the drumstick, they both share a smile and exchanged their happy comments about the show. Another man chimed into the conversation and state that he got John's other drumstick. First man said: "WHOA MAN you should sell that I mean I would buy it!" The two other men laughed and the first man laughed along. He then suddenly stopped laughing and in a serious voice said to the third man "no seriously i'll give you 50 bucks for it"

biggest wtf ever
An Australian tween boy wearing a Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Jusuf Kala campaign shirt circa 2003/2004. Being Indonesian, I find this extremely weird, and I hope I didn't creep him out by staring at him with a 'wtf' face as he passed in front of me.

douchebag of the day
Kimbra was playing on stage and in between breaks when the singer ends the song and communicate with the audience, one drunk douchebag would keep on yelling "HEY KIMBRA YOU'RE A SLUT" and "I WOULD FUCK YOU KIMBRA" and other obscene and sexual comments on the amazing singer who either did not hear the douche's shouts or decided to do the smart thing and ignore him. He would then push away the white haired 20-something petite lady in the front which would of course piss anyone off. Things became heated and the girl shouted at the douche while trying to push him away, the douche slapped the girl across the face and pushed her on the face so hard she almost fell back but was lucky enough to be caught by a friend behind her. A series of "dude get the fuck out" and "fuck off" emerges from other concert goers that were there to see kimbra but the mood was ruined by the douche. My friend politely asked the guy and his friend to leave as they are disturbing the concert, and their reply? "We're not doing anything mate, we're not doing anything at all."

notable douchebag
Guy went up to my friend who was wearing a Beatles t-shirt and slurred "The beatles aren't playing here mate" which was quite funny at the time so we all laughed. My friend replied, "haha I wish" and the douche replied back "they're all DEAD". Dickhead fuck off one they're not all dead get your fucking fact straight and get the fuck out. Dick [getting too emotional over the beatles].

shoutouts
to sydney surfer boy Johnny, newcastle party girl Kim and her cousin for keeping me company as my friends are busy watching Kanye West. Thank you Kim for sharing me your personal relationship story and Johnny for the interesting 'kanye is a twat' conversation.
